Harald Kurt Tauber

was born on 30 August 1971 in Eisenstadt (Burgenland) but grew up in Upper Austria. After finishing primary school, he attended the music class of the BORG (secondary school) Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria). There, he first played the trumpet. At the age of 16, however, he already took singing lessons and, after getting his A-levels, he soon received a scholarship in order to start his studies of singing pedagogics at the Josef Matthias Hauer Conservatory in Wiener Neustadt. Meanwhile, he sucessfully participated as a singer in a double quartet in several singing competitions in Lower Austria and Vienna.

After graduating, he moved to the state capital Vienna and completed a further study in the field of "musical, operetta and chanson" under the direction of Lilo Mrazek and Robert Opratko with honour at the local conservatory. During his education, he already played some leading roles in BASTIEN and BASTIENNE, ARIAN, DAS KELTENMUSICAL, INTO THE WOODS, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Later, he occupied additional courses with Geraldine Armstrong, Dennis Callahan (dance) and Michael Pinkerton (interpretation).

Right after graduating, he was hired for the world premiere of TANZ DER VAMPIRE by the Vereinigte Bühnen Vienna, where he also could be seen in MOZART! and JEKYLL & HYDE later on. Further engagements in Austria and abroad followed, including the German premiere of DRACULA in Tecklenburg and FALCO MEETS AMADEUS at the Wörtherseefestspiele in Klagenfurt. Since the German premiere of WE WILL ROCK YOU, where he got the chance to work with the founders of the rockband Queen, Brian May and Roger Taylor, Cologne has become his permanent residence. In 2008, he created the role of Ofir at the world premiere of TUTANCHAMUN as well as the role of Koloman Moser at the world premiere of GUSTAV KLIMT 2009 in Gutenstein (Lower Austria) and is also featured on both Original Cast records. In 2009 and 2010, he toured Germany as Soloist and Resident Director for MUSICAL FIEBER.

Apart from his job as a musical actor, he organized several galas in favour of the Austrian Cancer Aid, produced the CDs "Freiheit" and "Traumwelt" and worked as a vocal coach. In 2006, he founded together with his colleagues Martin Berger and Matthias Simoner the band a³, playing songs by Austrian singer-songwriters. Despite his musical talent, Harald is not related to the famous tenor Richard Tauber (1891-1948).
